Watch: Governor Dayton, Tabke, Menden Speak at Shutterfly Groundbreaking

The new Shutterfly facility in Shakopee is expected to be completed next year.

Shutterfly will begin building its 217,000 square foot facility in Shakopee. Officials from the company were in Shakopee Tuesday morning for the ceremonial groundbreaking event.

A Ryan Companies representative headed off the event and was followed by Mayor Brad Tabke, Scott County Commissioner Dave Menden, Governor Mark Dayton and Shutterfly officials.

Ryan Companies will build the $60 million dollar facility, which will be located in the Dean Lakes Development.

Shutterfly's expansion to Shakopee was an effort that included city and county economic incentives as well as a $1 million loan from the Minnesota Investment Fund.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Shutterfly to Minnesota,” said DEED Commissioner Katie Clark Sieben in a news release. “Shutterfly ranked ninth in Forbes' fastest growing companies in 2013 and is also ranked as one of the best places to work. Minnesota has the talented and productive workforce to help fuel Shutterfly’s rapid growth."

Shutterfly will create 329 jobs in Shakopee in addition to seasonal part-time positions.
