Shakopee Schedules Hearing for Shutterfly Expansion

The Shutterfly expansion into Shakopee could bring 300 permanent jobs.

Shakopee officials are talking about plans for a Shutterfly expansion in the city, the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal reported. The planned facility would cost Shutterfly $60 million.

The city has scheduled a public hearing about Shutterfly's plans at the August 7 city council meeting. Shakopee is working on "economic development incentives," according to the Journal.

Recently Emerson Process Management agreed to move to Shakopee after receiving $6 million in government incentives. Funding for the incentives came from Shakopee, the state, Scott County, and the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District. The company will bring an estimated 500 jobs to Shakopee.

Plans for the possible Shutterfly expansion into Shakopee are not complete, Shakopee's Economic Development Coordinator Samantha DiMaggio emphasized.

The Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal reports that Shutterfly would bring 300 permanent jobs to Shakopee and 500 to 800 seasonal jobs.
