Shakopee International Festival Audience Become Dancers

The first Shakopee International Festival was a bigger hit than expected, said one member of the Shakopee Diversity Alliance.

The Shakopee Diversity Alliance is the all volunteer organization that put on the festival. They came together last year after a diversity summit in Shakopee.

Dance, food, crafts and information booths each had a part in the festival, which had as its mission the celebration of diversity in Shakopee.

When Duniya Drum and Dance hit the stage they encouraged the audience to stand and learn a dance. Most people complied and the dancing began.

Other performances included Iny Asian Dance Theater and Circus Manduhai.
