Senser Spends Birthday in Shakopee Prison

Amy Senser turned 46 years old on Friday, spending her first birthday in prison since being sentenced for the hit and run crash that killed a Minneapolis chef, according to a report by KAAL-TV News.

"She won't be treated any differently than any other offender," John Schadl, Minnesota Department of Corrections spokesman told Shakopee Patch less than two weeks ago.

However, Senser's attorney, Eric Nelson, said Senser told him when she arrived, "she got an incredible reception," the KAAL report said.

"Her biggest concern is that she has to wear long-sleeve shirts and tennis shoes," rather than enjoying the outdoors in a t-shirt," he added.

The prison's setup is similar to that of a community college, with different buildings and groups of inmates moving between buildings several times a day.

According to sentencing guidelines, Senser will spend two-thirds of her 41-month sentence in prison and spend the remaining time on supervised release.
