Amy Senser's Attorney Files For Appeal, Asks for Her Release From Shakopee Prison

Defense attorney Eric Nelson filed a notice of appeal of Amy Senser's conviction with the Minnesota Court of Appeals on Friday, Aug. 10.

Amy Senser's lawyer has charged that Senser, convicted in the hit-and-run death of a Roseville man in 2011, did not get a fair trial and that the presiding judge repeatedly abused his discretion, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Defense attorney Eric Nelson filed a notice of appeal of Senser's conviction with the Minnesota Court of Appeals on Friday, Aug. 10, and asked the court to free his client from prison while the case is being decided, the story said.

in July. According to sentencing guidelines, Senser will spend two-thirds of her sentence in prison and spend the remaining time on supervised release.

She's already spent her 46th birthday in prison and her lawyer said at the time that when she arrived she received "an incredible reception."
