Jess Records Debuts in Downtown Shakopee

The record label will host a music party at Turtle's on Friday, Oct. 18.

Downtown Shakopee is now home to a new recording studio and music label, Jess Records.

The studio at the Laurent Building on Fuller Street South started up this summer, the Shakopee Valley News reports. Jess Records is a collaboration between producer Richie Miranda (of Pamir Entertainment) and husband-and-wife duo Chad and Holly Figg.

The label will hold a kickoff party at Turtles on Friday, Oct. 18. The music party will also serve as a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and a memorial for the Figg's 18-month-old daughter Jessica, who died in 2006 after a battle with leukemia.

Six new young artists will perform at the event, including Kezia Ekel (pictured). Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under. The show starts at 4 p.m. on Oct. 18, and runs till 10 p.m. at Turtle's 1890s Social Center, 112 South Lewis Street.
