Cretex Workers in Shakopee Remain On Strike

The Shakopee workers have been on strike for three weeks.

Passing motorists honked their car horns in support of union workers at Cretex Companies who are on strike in Shakopee.

previous report on Patch details the reasons for the strike. Josh Bassais, a union organizer, said that the main issue is pensions. The company proposes switching from pension contributions to a 401(k).

Pensions are more secure than a 401(k), said Steve Buck, business agent at Laborers Local 563.

Laborers Local 563 represents the workers, who first went on strike June 19. They have a picket line outside Cretex Companies, located off of County Road 101.

Patch will have the full story soon.
