Canterbury Park Announces Creation of Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame

The first induction ceremony will be held Oct. 4, according to a park press release.

While poker has only been legal in Minnesota since 1999, people have been playing the game since the 19th Century, and Canterbury Park Racetrack and Card Casino wants to honor the hometown greats.

According to a recent new release, Canterbury has established the Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame to honor those who have shaped the game in the state.

“The Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame will celebrate the success of local poker players and recognize those that have positively contributed to the betterment of the game,” Michael Hochman, Canterbury Park’s senior director of Casino Operations, said in the release.

The hall of fame will be governed by a board consisting of industry professionals, poker players, and poker media. The first induction ceremony will be held Oct. 4 at the Shakopee facility.
