Resident Photographers Invited to 'Show Off Shakopee'

Submissions are due on Sept. 20.

The 2013 "Show Off Shakopee" photo contest is open for submissions. Amateur and professional photographers can participate by submitting photos that capture life in Shakopee.

There are three categories:  

Enjoying Life in Shakopee: Photos of people enjoying Shakopee’s amenities

Find out what's happening in Shakopeewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Action, Action, Action: Photos from local sporting events, festivals, entertainment, etc.

Taking in the View: Architecture, nature, landmarks, etc.

The Winter/Spring Hometown Messenger will include an announcement of the winning photos in each category and the city website will also feature the winning photos.

The deadline to submit photos is by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.

Contest rules:

  • Photographers must be residents of Shakopee. Entries must be submitted by the original photographer.
  • Photos containing recognizable people must be accompanied by a signed name/photo consent form.
  • Each entry must be labeled with photographer’s name and submitted with a corresponding entry form.
  • Photos shall not be more than 2 years old.
  • All submissions become the property of the City of Shakopee and may be used in any city publication.

Photo requirements:

  • Only digital images submitted in JPG and TIFF format will be accepted. Images can be submitted on CD or emailed to shakopeephotocontest@ci.shakopee.mn.us.
  • Submissions must be color and at least 2 MB in size with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
  • Minor digital enhancements, such as cropping, are allowed, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.
