Hwy 169 Lanes Closing Ahead of Bloomington Ferry Bridge Construction

Shakopee residents will again experience the traffic impact of construction on Highway 169.

Starting tonight and for the next 14 days, off-peak lane closures will occur on Highway 169, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today.

On Friday at 8 p.m. the left lanes in both directions between Stage Coach Road and Old Shakopee Road will close temporarily. The lane closures will allow crews to begin building crossovers ahead of the Bloomington Ferry Bridge construction slated to begin July 26, MnDOT said.

The upcoming project includes work on the bridge, as well as the ramp connecting Highway 13/County Road 101 to northbound Highway 169.

According to information on the MnDOT project page, “A significant portion of the work will affect traffic and is likely to result in congestion.”

Lane closures include “single lane traffic in both directions of Hwy 169 for up to three weeks,” MnDOT said.

MnDOT has created a PDF brochure that explains the purposes of the construction, such as bridge maintenance and traffic flow improvements on the Highway 13/County Road 101 exit.

The project is scheduled to finish on August 23.
