Shakopee High School senior Maria Hauger took third place at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) National Finals on Saturday, Dec. 8. Her finishing time of 17:30 was just five seconds behind first place.
Hauger qualified for the National Finals after placing third in the Midwest Regional competition.
The 5K National Finals race took place in San Diego, CA on Dec. 8. Coming in first place for the girls' race was Anna Rohrer of Mishawaka, Indiana. She also won the Midwest Regional race.
Rohrer and Hauger, along with other runners, were part of the lead group until Rohrer made her way towards the front of the pack at around the 11:10 mark, according to the FLCCC press release.
Edward Cheserek of Newark, N.J. finished first in the boys' National Finals race.
