Do You Know Any Outstanding Shakopee Alumni?

Residents have a little bit longer to recommend outstanding people who hail from the Shakopee School District. 

The district has extended nominations for the Shakopee School District’s Hall of Fame until 5 p.m. July 15.

The Hall of Fame, sponsored by the district and the Shakopee Education Endowment Foundation, aims to recognize “alumni who have achieved distinction in their lives

and/or chosen field after school through significant contributions to their career, community or personal achievements.” 

A selection committee will choose the people to be honored based on the following criteria:

• “Nominees must be a graduate of Shakopee Public School.
• “Nominees not meeting the criteria but who have made a significant impact or contribution to the Shakopee Public Schools may be recommended by the Shakopee Public Schools Hall of Fame to the Shakopee School Board for consideration.
• “Nominees are first eligible for selection 10 calendar years following their graduation.
• “Selection is based on achievements which shall include a worthy record in more than one and exemplary achievement in at least one of the following:

1. “Job-related achievements
2. “Professional honors and awards, professional affiliations, publications
3. “Civic or community involvement
4. “Personal achievements/accomplishments
5. “Positive impact on the communities of the Shakopee Public Schools
6. “Other appropriate qualifications which the committee believes merit consideration”

Those who are chosen will be mentioned on a plaque displayed in Shakopee High School.
