Shakopee City Council Grants Conditional Use Permit for Senior Housing Development
The development is for seniors age 55 and older and will consist of 84 units.

The Shakopee City Council approved the final plat and granted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for an 84 unit senior housing development to be located at the northwest corner of Independence Drive and Thrush Street. The approval took place at the Nov. 20 city council meeting.
The platting subdivides the 10 acre parcel immediately south of the Shakopee Area Catholic School (SACS) into two lots. The smaller of the two, totaling approximately three acres and located at the corner of Independence Drive and Thrush Street, would be home to the proposed senior housing development, while the remaining seven acre parcel between the proposed senior housing and the SACS campus would remain available for future development.

The developer, Trident Development LLC, plans to construct a three‐story building that will include independent living, assisted living and memory care units for seniors ages 55 and older. Earlier this year, the City Council approved a Tax Increment Financing plan for the project, which will grant Trident Development up to $1 million in financial assistance in exchange for at least 20 percent of the housing units being affordable to individuals with incomes at or below 50 percent of the median income in Scott County.
