Councilor Pamela Schurman To Resign from Shakopee City Council

Schurman's resignation letter mentions a growing family as the reason for her departure.

Shakopee Councilor Pamela Schurman has submitted a letter of resignation to the city. Her resignation is effective August 31, 2013.

Schurman began her term as a Shakopee council member in January of 2010. Her term would have ended in December of this year.

In the letter, included in the agenda packet for the city council's July 29 workshop, Schurman says:

"Our family's pending arrival of twins in November is taking priority over fulfilling the final four months of my term on the Council. I feel it is best for me to make room for someone with energy to devote to the job in that timeframe."

She concludes that she has been honored to serve the city and wishes "nothing but success for the future of the city."

Her resignation will be accepted as the last item of general business at the July 29 city council workshop, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
