Thirty-Nine Businesses Pass Alcohol Compliance Checks; Six Fail

Businesses that failed the checks will face penalties including fines and possible suspension of their licenses.

(The following is a news release from the Shakopee Police Department.)

Recent results from alcohol compliance checks conducted in Shakopee show that 87 percent of alcohol retailers refused a sale to someone under the age of 21.

Out of 45 checks completed, 39 retailers passed. Checks were conducted with both on-sale and off-sale establishments from August 24, 2012 to October 6, 2012.

The Shakopee Police Department commends those businesses that passed their compliance check. An appreciation letter was mailed to each business in compliance. 

The businesses that failed the compliance check were Shakopee Wine Cellars, Dangerfield’s Restaurant, Stonebrooke Golf Club, Raceway Park, Valleyfair, and The American Legion. They will face penalties including fines and possible suspension of their licenses.

Local law enforcement conducted the compliance checks with funding from Invitation Health Institute through the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Another round of checks is scheduled to be conducted after the first of the year.
