Shakopee Man Identified as Victim in Bloomington Ferry Bridge Crash

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner confirmed that the man who died in a Friday crash was a 48-year-old Shakopee man.

Steven Craig Whiting died after he lost control of his 2003 Buick LeSabre on an icy road while driving south on Highway 169, according to the State Patrol. The vehicle went over the guardrail on the Bloomington Ferry Bridge and landed on its roof next to the Minnesota River.

The incident was reported at 8:25 a.m. but is thought to have happened early in the morning.

The medical examiner ruled that Whiting died from “multiple blunt force injuries” arising from the crash and that the death was an accident.
