The Shakopee man who was found dead last week near Top Star Market has been identified.
Thomas James Lawrie, 52, died on Dec. 12 of hypothermia with alcohol intoxication as a contributing factor. The cause of death is according to the coroner's preliminary report, said Shakopee Police Captain Craig Robson.
A passerby called Shakopee Police after spotting Lawrie on the ground. Lawrie was dead when police arrived at around 8:41 a.m.
Police reported the smell of alcohol and bottles of alchohol near the area where Lawrie was found, and the death appeared to be accidental.
