Man Stops His Shakopee Shoplifting Partner From Fleeing Plato's Closet

The man refused to unlock his vehicle for the woman who had stolen the clothes.

A man who decided he didn’t want to flee the scene of an attempted shoplifting kept his Shakopee partner and himself from getting away.

At about 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14, employees of Plato’s Closet in Eden Prairie noticed a 23-year-old Shakopee woman going into a fitting room with a big purse and then leave without any items in view. While she was in there, a man reportedly brought her more items.

The woman refused to stop for employees who tried to halt her, and she yelled at the man to unlock their vehicle as she got closer to it. However, the man would not unlock the vehicle and told her to return and give the items back.

The woman returned and gave the store three items worth $35 total that had been taken. Employees told the man and woman to wait for police. They both left the store, but workers had noted the vehicle’s plates.

Officers stopped the vehicle at the Hennepin County Library parking, ticketed the woman for theft and issued her a trespass notice. The man was not ticketed.
