Shakopee Twins Sentenced for Heroin-Related Home Invasion Burglaries

Two of the three people accused of numerous in May have been sentenced to time in jail with prison time hanging over their heads for the next 10 years.

Anthony Azariel Garrido, 18, was accused of burglarizing several homes, including one in which a woman was at home in the shower. He was eventually charged with five felonies: one count of first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, two counts of second-degree burglary and two counts of third-degree burglary.

In June, Garrido pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, and had the other charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

His twin brother, Bryant Azariel Garrido, also faced five felony burglary charges and in June pleaded guilty to felony first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, and had the other charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Both received the same sentence in early August of 21 months in prison, all of which was stayed for 10 years. The brothers will spend six months in the and will be on supervised probation for 10 years. They must pay restitution of more than $3,200 to the victims and can have no contact with them.

Nineteen-year-old Camilo Andres Ramirez, of Lakeville, has pleaded guilty to one count of felony second-degree burglary of a dwelling and had three charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 28 in Scott County Court.

The men broke into homes on and around the 1400 block of Primrose Lane and stole diamond rings, cash, a laptop and an X-box 360. In a statement to police, Ramirez said he agreed to pawn some of the stolen items because Bryant Garrido offered to buy and share marijuana and heroin with him.

Bryant Garrido reportedly told police he and his brother were addicted to heroin and admitted they broke into houses and stole things.

When Anthony Garrido was arrested, police say he admitted to the burglary where a woman was in the shower on the 1000 block of Juniper Court on April 29. The woman told police she heard a noise and when she went to investigate, found a man matching Anthony Garrido’s description standing in her living room. 

According to court records, Bryant Garrido will be released from custody this week to go to a treatment facility.
