Shakopee Animal Lover Dies at Age 56
Services for Yvonne Marie Green Okerberg will be held on Saturday.
Yvonne 'Vonni' Marie Green Okerberg died Sept. 11, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born in Shakopee on Dec. 29, 1956.
Okerberg is described has someone who enjoyed life and who had a gift with animals, according to her obituary from McNearney Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
She could feed and befriend them even when others couldn't. She wanted to care for each of them - wild, stray, or otherwise. She always had a story about the latest critter.
There was a simplistic approach about her. She charmed even the grumpiest of people with her one-liners and sass. Yet, she was a role model and the epitome of benevolence.
Okerberg leaves behind spouse, Jim Okerberg; daughter, Erica; mom, Betty Green; siblings, Tom, Michelle, Anita, Max, and their spouses and families.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at McNearney Funeral Home in Shakopee.
Visitation is on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 12-1 p.m. at McNearney Funeral Home.
For those who want to make a donation in Okerberg's honor, the family requests donations to an animal shelter.
