Most Recent Deaths, Week of April 27, 2013

Over the last two weeks, at least nine people have died in Savage, Shakopee or Burnsville, including a 19-year-old Shakopee High student and Mrs. L, the owner of the Spur Cafe and Truck Stop.

Jeanette S. Leitchman, known to many as "Mrs. L," died at the age of 89 on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. Leitchman was a longtime resident of Savage and the co-owner of the Spur Cafe and truck stop as well as a resort in Amery, WI, a tavern, and a motel in Richfield.

Nancy L. Broback—April 25

Burnsville resident Nancy L. Broback passed away April 25, 2013 at the age of 60. Services pending.

Robert C. 'Bob' Burgess—April 24

Lakeville resident Bob Burgess died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the age of 60. Burgess, a native of Shakopee, loved traveling to Alaska and caring for his horses. he was a longtime employee of Bor-Son Construction Inc.

Yoeuth Touch—April 20

Yoeuth Touch, of Savage, passed away at his home surrounded by family on April 20, 2013. He was 64. Yoeuth was a native of Battadabong, Cambodia. He immigrated to the United States in 1983. He worked at Priority Envelopes in Plymouth for 11 years. His family writes that he loved BBQ, the outdoors and fun with friends and family.

"He was a very good craftsman and liked to build things. He had a great sense of humor and people love to be around him," the family writes. "He was a great barber, good musician, but most of all a great father." 

Marcos A. Pantaleon—April 19

Marcos A. Pantaleon, age 19, died on April 18 at his home in Shakopee, just a few hours before his 20th birthday. Marcos was a senior at Shakopee High who is described as "very outgoing and family oriented." 

John S. Kolles—April 19

John S. Kolles, age 75, died on April 19, 2013. Kolles lived in Bloomington, though he was once a Burnsville resident. He was a longtime teacher at the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school district, where he worked for 35 years. 

Harley James Wishart—April 19

Harley James Wishart, of Burnsville, passed away at home on April 19, 2013 at the age of 95. Wishart was a veteran of the Army Air Corp during World War II and a longtime employee of Phillips Petroleum Co.

Howard Joseph Breeggemann—April 14

Apple Valley resident Howard Joseph Breeggemann died April 14, at the age 69, after a five year battle with T Cell Lymphoma. Breeggemann was a native of Shakopee, member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage, and part-owner/operator of HoBo Inc. in Lakeville.

Helen O. Hjelle—April 14

 Helen O. Hjelle, of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2013 at the age of 80. Hjelle, a native of Newfolden, spent many years in Warren and East Grand Forks, where she raised her family. She was also a longtime employee of Burnsville Park Nicollet, where she worked for 28 years until her retirement in 2009.

"Helen will always be remembered for her positive outlook, generous encouragement, and contagious laugh," her family writes. "She was a woman of deep faith who believed that prayer changes things."
