Obituary
Stanley R. Crooks, age 70. Member and Chairman of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in Prior Lake, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee, from natural causes, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Stanley was born in Pipestone, MN, on November 27, 1941, the son of Norman and Edith (Ross) Crooks. He served in the United States Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6208 in Prior Lake.
Stanley loved politics and golf. Golfing he recorded 7 hole-in-ones.
As he journeys to the Spirit World, Chairman Crooks leaves his wife of 48 years, Cheryl; two daughters, Cherie Crooks and Alisa Crooks; four grandchildren, Joe Bathel, Kc Bathel, Dakota Crooks, and Jesse Crooks; three great grandchildren, Neveah Bathel, Dreamma Crooks, and Aiyanna Bathel; uncle, Clifford Crooks, Senior; brothers, Mike (Renate) Crooks, Danny 'Skip' (Laurie) Crooks, and George Crooks. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Edith Crooks; infant brother, Alex Crooks; brothers, Norman Woodrow Crooks, and Alfred Crooks.
Services
Funeral Services Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at the Tiowakan Spiritual Center, 14625 Prairiegrass Drive, Prior Lake, MN. Officiating is the Reverend Marlene White Rabbit Helgemo. Pallbearers are Joseph Bathel, Jesse Crooks-Archambault, John Granlund, Alex Blue, Randy Crooks, and Lance Crooks. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Crooks, Danny 'Skip' Crooks, George Crooks, Clifford Crooks, Sr., Gary Borchert, Jim Muelken, Leonard Wabasha, and all Tribal Leaders. Interment Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Cemetery.
Visitation
Traditional All Night Wake will be held after 5:00 PM Tuesday, at the Tiowakan Spiritual Center, with Prayer Service Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
