VIDEO: Shakopee Makes Saturday Night Live with Lindsay Lohan

Was a St. Olaf grad the reason behind the Shakopee skit?

A skit on Saturday Night Live, March 3, was based in a supposed Shakopee, Minnesota radio station, "B108 FM," with the staff of a hip hop show broadcasting at 5 a.m. after a winter storm.

After two high-energy SNL cast members talk about scraping "mad ice" off their windshields, driving through 10 blinking stoplights to downtown Shakopee and giving "mad props" to fleece and gloves, guest host Lindsay Lohan appears as intern illiterate Lisa.

An SNL cast member, called Karen, also appears to do the news. She announces Shakopee has had 14 inches of fresh snowfall, prompting some school closings, and allowing shoutouts to Shakopee's , and .

During and shortly after the segment, Shakopee was trending on Twitter with "mad" commentary including some wondering how Shakopee got in the mix. One theory holds that a 1999 St. Olaf College graduate, Shelly Gossman, who now works on the show may have been the link. See her story here.
