Hwy. 169/I-494 Interchange Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday

The ribbon cutting ceremony is in celebration of the completion of the interchange project.

MnDOT and local governments will celebrate the completion of the Hwy 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project at a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Nov. 29.

The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Hellmuth and Johnson, LLP, 8050 West 78th Street in Edina in the 4th floor conference room. The program includes remarks from local dignitaries.

Construction began at the interchange in late 2010 and included converting the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight.

The performance-based design removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety. Additionally the service roads surrounding the interchange were also reconstructed and six new roundabouts were installed.
