Stolen Kitten Now Available for Adoption

The now infamous on Saturday is back and ready for adoption, according to owner Jeff Latko.

"The kitten has been checked by the veterinarian at the Humane Society and given a clean bill of health to be adopted out to a loving family," Latko said. "Petland is very happy that the kitten is healthy and safely back in (our) care and invites anyone who would like to give her a loving home to stop in and meet her."

The 8-week-old Persian kitten was taken on Saturday around 8:30 p.m. by a female who was  as she put the animal in her purse. Latko told Patch Thursday that police have identified but not yet arrested a 23-year-old they believe took the feline.

On Tuesday morning, Petland got a phone call from an anonymous woman who said – left behind the store in a box.

The kitten, two siblings and their mother originally came to Petland when they were abandoned outside the store on Memorial Day. 

Store officials put the value of the stolen kitten at about $500.

Latko said this is the second time since the store opened four years ago that an animal has been stolen. Several years ago, a pug was taken, but it was also returned.
