Pillow Manufacturer Plans Move to Shakopee

About 200 jobs could be moving with My Pillow to Shakopee.

My Pillow, Inc. has found a new place to sleep – in Shakopee.

Founder Mike Lindell said Monday that he plans to take his growing pillow manufacturing plant from Carver across the river, according to a story by the Chaska Herald

Lindell has leased space in Carver at 920 Sixth Street West since 2004 and was recently given several months to get in compliance with a conditional use permit (CUP) issued in March, the Herald said.

Instead of tackling the issues in his existing space, Lindell started looking for a new facility and a letter of intent has been signed to lease a 45,000-square-foot building in Shakopee, the story said. The building is located at 5555 12th Ave. E. near Imagine Print Solutions off Highway 169 and Canterbury Road.

The business started because Lindell found himyself extremely frustrated with his pillow going flat, according to the My Pillow website.

Shakopee Mayor Brad Tabke tweeted a welcome message to My Pillow on Wednesday and then further tweeted "200 jobs!" referring to the number of My Pillow employees currently working in Carver.

Lindell's pillows are touted as having a unique, patented medical fill that stays cool, conforms to exact individual needs regardless of sleep position, and stays healthy for 10 years. It also says the pillows are dust mite resistant, non-allergenic, and can be washed and dried easily.

Why does the Mayor need to self-aggrandize constantly? it's seems Mr. Lindell picked the location out in Shakopee by himself. The mayor should be more than a Twitter Welcome Wagon. Can we have at least one week of articles that we don't hear about the Mayor's tweets, blog or comments? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Shakopee Mom - We have A LOT to be proud of and a lot of great, positive things happening right now that I am beyond excited to share with everyone in and around Shakopee. There are many people doing amazing work from staff, city council, other governments and residents who make these opportunities happen. Everyone deserves to know when our team is seeing successes (and setbacks). I'm sorry if you see success as me self-aggrandizing. That is by no means the intent but thank you for your opinion. Have a great day! Brad

Mr Mayor - You said, "Everyone deserves to know when our team is seeing successes (and setbacks)." Did you take to Twitter and tweet about the loss of 130 jobs due to the closure of the K-Mart distribution center? Did you also tweet about the loss of 144 jobs due to the closing of the ADC plant? Even though you had nothing to do with these closures, you certainly don't seem to be as forthcoming when it comes to acknowledging setbacks!
