Emerson to Create 500 Jobs in Shakopee

Biz Journal reports that Emerson will open manufacturing line at ADC site.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal is reporting that Emerson Process Management plans to open a new manufacturing line in Shakopee that would employ 500 people at a building that was built for, but never occupied by ADC Telecommunications Inc.

According to the article, Shakopee city officials will be asked today to consider being part of a public assistance package worth about $6 million that would come from various city, Scott County and state resources.

Emerson hopes to get through the city entitlement process this winter and be open sometime in 2013.

Emerson is a division of Emerson Electric Co., a St. Louis-based Fortune 500 company with about $24 billion in 2012 sales.

About 400 of the 500 jobs would be new and the rest would be transferred from other facilities, the newspaper reported. Emerson, which has its Twin Cities headquarters in Chanhassen, employs about 1,500 people in the metro area.
