Winners at Canterbury Park's Fillies Race for Hope

There were three stakes races during the event on Saturday.

The third annual Fillies Race for Hope occurred at Canterbury Park in Shakopee on Saturday.

The event included horse racing and fundraising for Hope Chest for Breast Cancer Foundation and North Memorial Foundation's Pay It Forward Fund. There were three stakes races featured during the day, according to a Canterbury Park news release.


Second Street City won the $50,000 Hoist Her Flag Stakes by 7 1/4 lengths. It was the first career win for jockey Denny Velazquez. Missjeanlouise finished in second place and Roses Plus finished third.

Starry Eyed Kate won the $50,000 Minnesota H.B.P.A. Distaff by a neck. Grandma's Rules took second and Lily in Pink finished in third place. 

Glory Rider was the first place winner of the $30,900 Fillies and Mares Race for Hope Bonus Challenge. In second place was Dreamnwideopen and Corona Mit Go finished third.
