Canterbury Park's Live Racing Season Ends in Two Weekends

The Shakopee park will not charge for admission through the rest of the season.

Canterbury Park's 69-day live racing season is the longest since 2006. Now there are just six more days left in the season and visitors to the Shakopee racetrack will receive free admission, the park recently announced in a news release.

Thoroughbred programs will take place Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 5-7 and Sept. 12-14. Post time is 6:30 p.m. on weeknights and 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

The extended race meet is part of a 10-year marketing and purse enhancement agreement made between Canterbury Park and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community

“The purse agreement with SMSC allowed us to extend the race meet this season in addition to offering larger per race purses,” Canterbury Park CEO Randy Sampson said in the release. “The extension provides additional racing opportunities for owners and trainers and also more race days for our fans.”
