Tree Lighting Ceremonies, Holiday Giving: Shakopee Weekend Planner

The Scott County Historical Society's Christmas Open House is another holiday event in Shakopee this weekend.

The holidays are coming to Shakopee this weekend. Here are some of the event highlights:

Shakopee Holiday Festival

Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The free festival includes the Velodazzle Bike Parade, tree lighting ceremony and carriage rides. Photos with Santa are available for $5 each. Refreshments will be available. The festival is located in downtown Shakopee.

Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Free admission to the musuem and Stans House for the open house, which takes place during the holiday festival. Activities include a scavenger hunt, bonfire and s'mores.

St. Francis "Lights of Love" Tree Lighting Ceremony

Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.

Lights purchased in memory or in honor of loved ones will decorate evergreen trees outside of St. Francis Regional Medical Center as well as a tree inside the Legacy Cafe. After the tree lighting ceremony, the lights will continue to be lit through the holidays.

 

Ongoing Holiday Events

Shakopee Chamber Holiday Food Drive

After the Festival, leave food donations at the Shakopee Chamber of Commerce office. Donations benefit the Community Action Partnership (CAP) Agency and will be accepted until 12 p.m. on Dec. 20.

Toys for Tots Shakopee Locations

Several Shakopee schools and local businesses are drop-off locations for Toys for Tots donations. Unwrapped toys can be donated through much of December leading to Christmas. Exact dates vary by location.
