Remember, a picture really is worth a thousand words when you are trying to communicate to your stylist what type of cut or style you are looking for. Bring in that photo of Zooey Deschanel’s bangs that you adore or a photo highlighting Jennifer Lopez’s voluminous layers. Your stylist will appreciate it.
Also, listen to what your stylist is recommending—the style of your dreams may not work for you or your lifestyle. If you’re a “ready, roll, go” kind of girl, then a cut that requires a lot of styling is not going to work.
Be patient and pay attention as your stylist creates your new style. The whole purpose of the styling process is to not only make you look like a million bucks, but it allows for the stylist to see their finished product. You are a walking billboard for their craft and they want you to look good. If you want to recreate the style on a daily basis you’re going to need to know exactly how to do it and what products are being used. If you see that your hair is being prepped with three different products before the blow-dryer is turned on, ask why. Remember, by working together with your stylist you can achieve the cut and style of your dreams.
