Editor's note: Voting ended 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.

Find out who won.

Sharing snapshots from a recent vacation isn't a new idea. But being rewarded for it is.

Patch has partnered with Caribou CoffeeWater Street InnFoodies on Foot and Northern Vineyards Winery to sweeten the idea of sharing.

For the past four weeks we asked Patch users to upload their favorite vacation photos from this summer. Each week, Northfield Patch Editor Corey Butler Jr. and Minnesota Associate Regional Editor Kevira Voegele narrowed the field to 10 photos for voting. Patch users then voted for their favorite photos.

We now have our four finalists.

Now we're asking you to leave a comment at the bottom of this page telling us which is your favorite photo (numbered 1-4 above). You surely could just leave the number, but go ahead and tell us why you like the photo. Be sure to share the page with all your friends to see if you can drum up more support for your favorite snapshot. Voting ends 9 p.m. Sunday.

After a week of voting (Monday, Sept. 3 through 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9), we'll announce the winner from the finals. The photo that collects the most comments of support gets the photographer a grand prize getaway to Stillwater valued up to $500 with an overnight stay at Water Street Inn, a Foodies on Foot adventure and a tour at Northern Vineyards Winery.

And, some of the legal details:

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, upload your summer vacation photos to the “Patch's Summer Vacation Photo Contest“ post on any of the 25 Minnesota Patch sites. Entrants can only submit photos of their own original photos, which must be from this summer. The use of any agencies or automated software to submit entries will void all entries submitted by that person.
  • All entries must be received by 9 p.m. CDT Wednesday of the competing week.
  • Four weekly winners will receive a $25 gift card to Caribou Coffee.
  • One grand prize winner selected from the weekly winners will receive a grand prize valued up to $500. The grand prize includes an overnight stay at Water Street Inn, a Foodies on Foot adventure and a tour at Northern Vineyards Winery, all located in Stillwater. Transportation to/from Stillwater is not included in the prize and will be the responsibility of the winner.

See the attached PDF for complete Official Rules.

Of course, we encourage you to share the link with your friends and family and brag about your great photo. Tell Patch and community members something awesome about your photograph in comments section below.

I didn't see any numbers, but #4, Celebrating Summer at the Lake. I stared at it for a long time wondering if this could be a real shot. If real, it is absolutely fascinating, if the dancer was added, I vote for it anyhow, for composition, color, combination of subjects.

I love # 1 with the girl on the rocks as I've btdt and had no fear. Now I'm older, my heart fears for her as if she was my own daughter. "You're too close!" "Make sure you stay still so you don't slide!"

#2 The photo is done in a "painterly style". It does sum up for me the feeling I get when I leave the mountains after my vacation, being oh, so alone and away from the closeness I felt in the hills with our creator. But wait, there is beauty here, too! Thank you, thank you.

It's hard to choose, they are all so perfect. But I think I have to go with #2, since the topic is a summer vacation. I don't think that we can own this country, if we don't explore it. We need to leave the state for that.

I have enjoyed this segment on the Patch immensely Corey. I’ve enjoyed the local shots as well as ‘the trip’ across the country. I have not been able to keep up with all of the photographs but remember Mr. Grotte’s submissions well – so pleasing to look at. All four finalists deserve to be recognized. Thanks for the good idea Patch, and to all for sharing your craft.

Thanks for the feedback, Margaret! We thought it was a cool idea and are happy to see the response we've received from it. Do you think this is best kept as an annual summer photo contest or do you think there's opportunity for other times of the year (probably on a smaller scale and a shorter contest)?

Corey, if you are able to keep it going on any scale, I'd be one who'd be most grateful. So, my vote is to keep it going. When my eyes have gone bonkers from reading the comments of need and trouble, it is very desirous to skip and go to the photographs. I hope readers will write in and let you know too that the photographers' gifts are highly regarded. Perhaps folks will make you do it. Ha! Thanks Corey for asking!!

I agree with Margaret, keep it going, whether it is summer vacations, first days of school shots (nod to Shawn H.), the beauty of snow/winter, the best Halloween costume,...or whatever. If you can find the sponsors, even if it is something small, I think it would be a great regular feature on Patch!

I'm picking #2. I think that from a photography perspective, that photo is the best of the four. The colors are all very vivid and draw your eyes to the most important part of the frame. The exposure is great and I like that you can see clearly from the foreground all the way back to the mountains. Plus, it's a picture that is clearly taken on a summer vacation. There aren't any mountains in Minnesota!

I know you have a true passion for photography and want you to know that is why my vote goes your way. Pictures can capture a thousand words, but they do not always say the million things they do in real life. I’m sure a million things were going through your head as you sat on the edge looking into whatever it may have been!

All the other pictures are great as well (no doubt about it), but I'm all in on #1!

Good luck & keep snapping away ; )
