The students had some outstanding things to say about their teacher.
Shakopee High School teacher Autumn Lee received the FOX 9 Top Teacher Award on April 25. from FOX 9's Heidi Collins.
According to the FOX 9 Report, Lee's nominators said:
-The LEAP program isn’t just a normal class. Ms. Lee creates a family environment were students are able to get help and support. She is there for students when they need someone the most. Ms. Lee gives students the encouragement and support to continue their education beyond high school.
-When a student informs Ms. Lee that they’ve been accepted into a college, she jumps up and down in happiness!! Her enthusiastic reaction makes students believe in themselves. Many former students say that they would not be attending college if not for Ms. Lee’s guidance.
Lee teaches Life Evolves Around Possibilities (LEAP). Most of her students are minorities and most will be the first in their families to attend college, according to Shakopee School District officials. Lee's students nominated her for the award without her knowledge. Out of about 100 teachers nominated for the award, she is one of only nine chosen to receive it.
