An interactive dinosaur park is set to open in Valleyfair the summer of 2013, the Shakopee Valley News has reported.

The dinosaur park will be called Dinosaurs Alive! and is part of Valleyfair's $3.5 million expansion that will also include a new catering area.

According to the report, the multi-sensory, interactive dinosaur park will feature more than 30 dinosaurs that will be life-sized and animated, as well as seven main scenes. The scenes are part of a story describing dinosaur's lives, such as the food they ate.

Interactive features of the park will include a paleontological dig site for children and the ability for visitors to control some dinosaur movements.

All of this is to take place on almost five wooded acres, the report states

Are there rides like at Universal Studios? Otherwise I do not see much interest in this especially past the first year. I asked my kids who are season pass owners and they didn't think much of it.

I agree with you Dawn! This sounds like a children's museum exhibit not a fun ride for an amusement park. How about spending that money rerouting the train to go to the Waterpark so we don't have to hike all the way through the park to get there. EVERYONE I know complains about that! That would make customers happy!!!

I TOTALLY agree with the train to the waterpark idea. The is a LONG hike, especially when you have little kids in tow. God forbid you forget something in your car, have fun on that all day excursion to the front. I LOVE Valleyfair, been a season pass holder for years along with my husband and 5 children. Great because the price of gas is too expensive to drive long distances, however, I would like to see improvements to the parks already exsisting rides or some new ones. My kids are not going to care to see a bunch of dinosaurs and learn about them, that is what the museums are for, and they get enough of that in the winter around here, let them play. I do have to say I LOVEEEEEEE what they did with planet snoopy, the kids rides before were awful and they made parent seats too, GOOD JOB!!!!
