UPDATE: Overnight Fire at Wine Styles Appears Incendiary In Nature
The Shakopee fire marshal is investigating the incident. No one was injured in the fire.
Robeson said that full details regarding the fire will not be available until the fire marshal releases his report, but initially the fire appeared incendiary in nature.
Shakopee firefighters responded to the fire at around 3 a.m. Inital reports suggested that it appeared that an explosion had blown away the front of the store. Robeson was unable to confirm if there had been an explosion.
Inital reports also suggested that businesses next to Wine Styles had little damage, but the businesses—Tokyo Grill and Southbridge Dental—are currently closed. The owner of Tokyo Grill said that it might a few days before it is able to reopen. Southbridge Dental owners, Joanne and Dr. Michael England, hope to reopen their business by Monday.
Joanne England said that they will not know the extent of the damage until the power turns back on. The sprinklers soaked the carpets, she said. They have contacted all their patients and routed them to other dental offices for the day.
England was impressed with the Shakopee Fire Department, Shakopee Public Utilities and others involved in the response process.
"The response from the fire department and everybody has just been phenomenal," she said. "Shakopee can be proud of their workforce here."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
