Go West Young Man – Farewell & Thanks For Everything
I’m moving on as editor of Shakopee Patch.
After nearly a year of getting to know Shakopee and the great people in it, it's time for me to say goodbye.
I’m moving on as editor of Shakopee Patch to take a similar position with Woodinville Patch in the Seattle, WA area. (Hence the "Go West Young Man" quote, although I'm not that young and of course, not a man.)
When I came to Shakopee Patch in September 2011, I hoped to create a website where the community would come to discuss local issues, swap stories, post events and read the latest local news. And it seems to me this is what has occured. We have shared a lot in a short amount of time; elections, a Shakopee skit on Saturday Night Live, a bid for the Vikings stadium, a power outage at Valleyfair and a $75 million agreement between Canterbury Park and the Shakopee Mdewakanton, among lots of other stories.
I truly appreciate how you have embraced Patch, sending tips and story ideas, and contributing to the site through photos, blogging, events and comments.
Although I am stepping away from the site, I will leave you in good hands. I leave Aug. 31, and from then on Andrea Parrott will oversee the site as a guest editor. Andrea is no stranger to Shakopee Patch – she has stepped in while I've been on vacation and she lives in the area.
Thanks again for all your support, contributions and for reading. You can be sure I'll continue to check in with Shakopee Patch to see what you're all up to.
If you ever find yourself in Seattle, please drop me a line!
Cheers!
Lisa
