As the national GOP has gotten polarized, so has the Minnesota Republicans. This is not the good old days of the center of the road common sense Republicans that Minnesota had for decades like Gov. Al Quie, Gov. Arne Carlson, and Former US Senator David Durenberger. It has been a trend in recent time that both parties the Democrats and Republicans have gotten more ideologue in their views which has caused both sides to point fingers at each other than work together for solutions. So Rick Santorum being the farthest to the right candidate being picked, than other candidates does not surprise me.
