Shakopee Chamber of Commerce members and local business owners came to the Shakopee Pizza Ranch Monday morning for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

The restaurant, opened by local entrepreneurs Doug and Jan Lake in late July, is located near Cub Foods at 1266 Vierling Dr. E., next to Chuck & Don's and Crossroads Liquor.

Doug Lake said the Pizza Ranch has had a steady stream of customers since it opened and has been particularly popular on Friday and Saturday nights.

"We liked the concept of Pizza Ranch, what they stood for, and their mission statement," he said.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees were served slices of dessert pizza and Outlaw Pizza, made with hot banana peppers, smoked pepperoni and Italian sausage.

Lake said he's working with local schools and churches to host "community impact nights," in which a portion of the evening's profits are donated to charity.

Founded in 1981, Pizza Ranch has 163 locations across nine states including Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois and Kansas.
