With the State Fair Speedway Gone, Raceway Park Has Your Labor Day Stock Car Racing Action
On Sept. 3, Raceway Park presents the Summer Thunder Series, a very special Labor Day event featuring an extended 75-lap Hobby Stock feature.
With the Minnesota State Fair now under way for 2012, there's a lot of midwest race fans that still remember a few years ago when the decision was made to tear out the historic State Fair Speedway.
Many race fans and fairgoers still have wonderful memories of those days when stock car racing was the big attraction every Labor Day at the Great Minnesota Get Together.
Raceway Park in Shakopee wants to bring back that Labor Day tradition. On Monday, Sept. 3, starting at 2pm, Raceway Park presents the Summer Thunder Series, a very special Labor Day event featuring an extended 75-lap Hobby Stock feature that is expected to draw a large group of Hobby Stock and Thunder Car drivers from around the area to "Minnesota's Action Attraction."
What is going to make this event extra special is that as the local NASCAR Whelen All-American Series enters its closing weeks, there are extremely close points battles going on across the division, where drivers are competing for local and national points in addition to various track championships. With all these drivers competing on the same track at the same time, this is building to be one major competitive race event.
In addition to the feature event, Raceway Park will also be presenting action in the Thunder V-8s, Mini Stocks, Spectator Drags where the race fans have their chance to bring their daily-drivers to the track in a one-on-one elimination to see who has the fastest "grocery getter," in addition to Powder Puff Racing for the ladies.
