POLL: KSTP Heroin Story Featuring Shakopee Prompts Twitter Response
After KSTP News featured Shakopee in a report on the Twin Cities heroin problem, viewers took to Twitter.
KSTP Channel 5 News shined the spotlight on Shakopee Monday evening in a story about the rising heroin problem in the Twin Cities.
A KSTP reporter interviewed teens in Shakopee, who said they could get a bag of heroin for $5 and that they've heard Shakopee referred to as H-town, for heroin town.
They also referred to two stories Patch ran last week – about the teens accused of breaking into homes and stealing things to pawn to purchase the drug, and about the 18-year-old woman accused of stealing things from her family for the same purpose.
People took to Twitter after the report to voice their opinions of Shakopee and of the story:
I would just like to say, there are so many other towns that have a heroin problem, shakopee isn't the only town #shakovballforever
The heroin scene in shakopee all over the news. So much for stayin classy shako hahah
The only reason abc news did that story was to spread awareness...Shakopee is the biggest city hit by the drug. I'd want my kids to be safe.
Mollie O'Brien @Mollie_Obrien:
