Fireworks Ban Issued; Shakopee Burn Restrictions Still in Effect
The fireworks ban comes as Scott County remains at a very high fire danger rating.
The fire danger rating for Scott County is very high, and the use of fireworks in Shakopee is banned.
According to the city:
With drought and continued windy conditions, the use of all fireworks has been banned. Please use extreme caution if burning a recreational fire as windblown sparks and embers can easily start other spreading fires. Always have water available to extinguish the fire and do not leave the recreational fire unattended.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources explains that a very high fire danger rating means that "fires start very easily and spread at a very fast rate."
Burn restrictions are still in place for Shakopee and Scott County. Open burning permits will not be issued until the the burn restrictions are lifted.
