Eden Prairie's Own Adrian Peterson Named NFL MVP: Pick of Our Patches

The Vikings player also took home Offensive Player of the Year and Fantasy Football Player of the Year

Adrian Peterson accepted the 2012 NFL Most Valuable Player Award on Saturday night in New Orleans, reported espn.com.

"It's been a long year and this is more to add on to the testimony that you can accomplish anything if you put God first and continue to work hard," Peterson said, as reported by cbssports.com. "A year ago a lot of people were counting me out and I'm blessed to be here."

Peterson owns a home in Eden Prairie, not far from the homebase of the Minnesota Vikings.

He also was named the Offensive Player of the Year and the Fantasy Football Player of the Year.

Former Vikings player Cris Carter was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame on Saturday, according to espn.com.

"This is the happiest day of my life," Carter said, according to ESPN. "When people said, 'Aw, you know, it really doesn't matter, you're a Hall of Famer in my eyes,' I said, 'It's more important that I'm a Hall of Famer in the Hall's eyes.' And I really, really wanted this."
